To the finish!
Muddy Manukau and Mangawhai and then a wild Woodhill. It’s been a mighty year and a huge test for the Cooper Tires Nissan Pathfinder 4.0 as we raced our first season in the New Zealand offroad racing championship. Now we head for Hawkes Bay at Labour Weekend to go up against the northern and southern production-class elite. We’ve worked hard between races to beef up our suspension gear – racing in the rough bash and crash of this sport is far, far beyond what anyone would subject their road vehicle to. We’ve fitted some strong aftermarket bump stops and auxiliary shock absorbers including a cool cantilever rear setup that will get its first outing in motorsport at the national finals.

The two things that have impressed us most about the truck this year are the superb power and torque of the engine and the grip afforded by our Cooper Tires. In mud, sand, clay and more the aggressive tread and construction of our tires and the unflinching grunt of this truck have got us through again and again where others have stopped or bogged or broken down.

Set on a spectacular farm course in the foothills behind Hawkes Bay, the national finals are well worth a look for anyone who’s in the area over Labour Weekend. Already the entry list has eclipsed all the South Island rounds and we are expecting to be part of a 60-70 strong field at the two days of racing. Best spectator viewing will be the Saturday of Labour Weekend, a non-stop display of automotive madness. A preview for this event is at www.oranz.co.nz

Anyone interested in coming out for a look can get more information from us by email: mcgillivray_bros@xtra.co.nz or saiso@xtra.co.nz – we’d love to see you there.

Tougher…
Mud_Masters2_Suspension_pic_web.jpgOur new rear suspension (right) features four big auxiliary shock absorbers and new bump stops by Race Shock Specialists to help soak up the big hits that are everywhere in this rough tough sport.
